A malocclusion is the abnormal alignment of teeth, jaw and/or a bad bite. It can develop when the upper and lower teeth do not fit together normally. This misalignment of teeth and jaw can lead to oral health problems if not treated. Severely misaligned teeth and jaws can cause snoring, sleep apnea, and other breathing problems.

Work, school, soccer games, whatever it is, these life events can cause preventive health care to fall by the wayside. Then a painful symptom reminds you it’s been a while since your last checkup. It’s tempting to put off seemingly minor dental issues until your schedule lightens up. But the warning signs below shouldn’t be taken lightly. This is especially true if you’re managing a chronic condition, like diabetes. Oral health should not be neglected.

Testimonial Tuesday Patient Review

I went to Dr. Sanchez with a mess of a mouth. I’m now sporting a new set of dentures (I couldn’t afford implants) that look great! He was sympathetic and caring; not once did he make me feel bad about the condition of my teeth. When the first impressions didn’t work for the lab he custom made a set from wax. Dr Sanchez is caring and gentle with an awesome sense of humor. The entire office staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Testimonial Tuesday Patient Review

For the past 14 years, Dr. Sanchez has taken such great care of my problematic teeth. He has also taken care of my four children’s teeth and my husband’s teeth as well. His wealth of knowledge in general dentistry, sedation, implants, orthodontics, and just about anything else you need is very extensive. He’s constantly taking classes to enhance and further his already vast knowledge and continues to provide the best dentistry in Tehachapi and surrounding areas. He and his office staff are pleasant and very caring; I can’t say enough about Dr. Sanchez! He’s wonderful and we will continue to receive excellent dentistry from David for many years to come. Great job, Doc! We love ya!

Dentures-615x400-1.jpg?fit=615%2C409&ssl=1

July 18, 2019 General0

Everyone is self-conscious about something. The impact it has on one’s life can be damaging. Unfortunately, for many people who wear dentures, the experience is often one of extreme self-consciousness.

In 2015, a US Oral Care Survey (Biting Into Denture Care) revealed the negative impact dentures (also called snap on teeth) have on self confidence for people who wear them. One surprising result of the survey was that 53% of respondents said they received their first set of dentures at the age 44 or even younger. So we are not just talking about the lost confidence of the elderly.

What is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea is a dangerous sleep disorder that deprives the body of oxygen and increases the risk of serious health issues. It is the involuntary cessation of breath while sleeping. People with untreated sleep apnea stop breathing as many as hundreds of times per night, sometimes for a full minute or longer.

Do you sometimes wake up with a tension headache or soreness in your jaw or face? Do you have tooth sensitivity and worn enamel on your teeth? Has your sleep partner complained about the grinding noises you make at night? If you’ve answered yes to these questions, you may have sleep bruxism, a condition in which you subconsciously grind or clench your teeth at night.
