Do you want a relaxation dentist? What if we told you that at Sedation and Implant Dentistry of Tehachapi, we offer the residents of Kern County the option of a relaxing and calm dental experience?

This might sound too good to be true, but it’s not. At Sedation and Implant Dentistry of Tehachapi, Dr. Jose David Sanchez is qualified to administer medication that provides relief from the common anxieties many people feel when faced with visits to the dentist.

What is sedation dentistry?

Sedation dentistry, also called sleep dentistry, is a common term used to describe the administration of medication to help dental patients cope with the fear and angst associated with going to the dentist. For some, the anxiety is debilitating, and they avoid visiting the dentist altogether. Regardless of the reason for the fears and anxieties people have around going to the dentist, sedation dentistry provides a helpful solution.

How does sedation dentistry work?

The primary method used at Sedation and Implant Dentistry of Tehachapi is IV Sedation. Often referred to as Conscious Sedation, the patient will not be asleep, but in a deep state of relaxation, unbothered by their surroundings. Delivered intravenously (IV), the patient will be conscious, drifting in and out of sleep, but will not remember the procedure at all. After the procedure is done, the patient will feel as if the several hour long procedure went by in a flash. Throughout IV Sedation, Dr. Sanchez will make adjustments to the level of sedation to make sure the patient is constantly carefree and comfortable.

Dr. Sanchez and the dental assistants will carefully monitor the vital signs of each patient undergoing sedation throughout the duration of the procedure and the sedation process. It is necessary for sedation dentistry patients to arrange for a ride home.

Very few dentists can perform IV sedation!

The administration of conscious sedation requires a specific license by the Dental Board of California. Only a few dentists have this Conscious Sedation Permit. In Tehachapi, Jose David Sanchez, D.D.S. is the only dentist licensed in the city of Tehachapi to perform IV Sedation. Additionally, he is one of only six dentists licensed to perform IV Sedation in all of Kern County!
